Jon’s new video course, “Modal Rock Soloing” will be released on truefire.com on Oct. 22, 2013 Click here to see more details
Soon, there’ll be an online course taught personally by Jon.
Dave Shaheen, Mike Bavaro and I have been working on a TV about guitars. We’ve been kicking this idea around for a while now. Finally, it’s becoming a reality.
So we’ve started a Kickstarter project to fund the project. Here’s more info:
I just got back from St. Petersburg, FL where I filmed a guitar instruction course for Truefire.com! Our working title is “Modal Rock Soloing” or something like that. We think it’ll be released by this coming June! More details as the become available! Stay tuned!
If you’re observant, you’ve noticed a new menu item, “Daily Chord“. Every day, you should see a new chord posted. You get a chord diagram, the notes, tab and a brief description of the chord.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to keep pace with the “every day” goal I’ve set for myself.
I’ve learned so many things about guitar in a “non-linear” way by exploring things and thinking, “That’s cool! What else can I do with this”
That way I get to noodle at my own pace and bump in to things I like.
PS: If you have a chord that you’d like to submit, just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
If it’s accepted, you’ll be credited properly.
PSS: Of course, there’s a ton more stuff like this in the “Premium Content” section of this site. $7.00/month subscription click here to sign up
This is a post I saw on Facebook from the band Animals as Leaders. Please pass this along!
We’ve got some pretty terrible news to report. Upon returning home to our house in LA we discovered that we’d been robbed while were out on tour. The thieves were able to get away with Javier’s Chevy Blazer and all of the equipment we didn’t have on tour with us. 10 guitars in total. This includes many of our one of a kind custom instruments (Stranberg,Rick Toone ) as well as amplifiers, PA equipment and personal items.
This is beyond devastating. We know so many of you have been beyond supportive with Javier’s legal troubles. We may need more of your help now to potentially find some of these one of a kind instruments that may pop up on Ebay, Craigslist, pawn shops, used music stores etc.
We’re adding an album containing photos and detailed descriptions of the stolen gear to our profile. Please take a look and keep your eyes open for anything that looks close to this stuff. I truly think that with your help we have an exponentially better chance of tracking some of this down.
I have some exciting news! I’m going to Nashville later this month to audition for Neal Morse’s (Spock’s Beard/Transatlantic/Flying Colors) touring band! Pretty cool!
If you’re a Neal Morse “Inner Circle” member, you’ll be able to see audition video clips of the process! Wish me luck!
More details as they become available!
Berklee Guitar virtuoso Jon Finn signs with The Lowry Agency
Nashville-based entertainment firm, The Lowry Agency, has officially announced the addition of guitar virtuoso Jon Finn (www.jonfinn.com) to their client booking roster.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) – Feb 01, 2012 –
Nashville, TN – Nashville-based entertainment firm, The Lowry Agency, has officially announced the addition of guitar virtuoso Jon Finn (www.jonfinn.com) to their client booking roster.
“We’ve been together as a band for more than 20 years. Four best friends hanging out and doing what comes naturally. Our goal is simple: Make music that we like. We’ve wanted to tour for a long time and have gotten many requests from fans over the years. Up to now, our approach has been to travel directly to an area where someone local is wiling to help us since we’ve been self-managed all this time. We’re very excited to be working with Dave Lowry Agency to assemble our first “real” tour. See you on the road!” says Finn about working with The Lowry Agency.
A guitarist since age six, Jon Finn has been a professional musician for most of his life. Joining the guitar faculty at Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1988, he started the Jon Finn Group later that same year. To date, they have released three CDs “Don’t Look So Serious” with Legato Records in1994, “Wicked” with SEP Records in 1998 and “Bull in a China Shop” in 2010.
For over three years, Jon wrote a monthly instructional feature for a national magazine called Guitar. Jon has also authored several books for Mel Bay Publications including “Advanced Modern Rock Guitar Improvisation,” One Guitar, Many Styles” and two others with more in the works.
Finn has played guitar for the national touring companies of many contemporary musical theater productions such as Rent, Aida, Mamma Mia, Grease, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Copacabana, and many others. Today Finn frequently performs and records with the Boston Pops Orchestra, and has been involved in a plethora of concerts and recording sessions, including 6 CDs (two of which were Grammy nominated), 8 US concert tours, and one tour in Asia
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but occasionally we’ve re-organized the menu system. A while back all the videos, pictures etc. were moved to the “Media” menu. After doing an interview with David Lowry on his podcast show “Live From Music City” I remembered some old podcasts that were done at home, and a radio appearance on WEEI’s “Planet Mikey”
Party on Wayne.
